Using Hot Water Service

(Swift 20L Electric Only)

Power Requirements

The Swift hot water service in your caravan is a 240V electric appliance. To operate it, you must:

  • Plug the caravan into shore power or a generator, or
  • Turn on the inverter to supply 240V power.

⚠️ Important:
Before turning on the hot water service, make sure the water pump is on (or the van is connected to mains water). Running the unit dry may damage the internal system and is not covered under warranty.

How to Turn It On

Once 240V power is available, the hot water service is controlled by a physical button located near the hot water unit. This button is typically mounted on the surface of the cupboard for easy access.

  • The hot water system itself is plugged into a dedicated GPO (power outlet) located inside the cupboard.
  • The physical button controls the GPO. The GPO should remain switched ON by default.
  • Pressing the button will activate or deactivate the GPO, and therefore the hot water unit.

If your caravan is equipped with a Redarc control system, the hot water service can be turned on and off using the Redarc control monitor instead of physical button.

Water Tank Size

The Swift unit holds 20 litres of hot water in an internal tank. When you use it, hot water is delivered through a temperature mixing valve, which blends it with cold water before sending it to your taps and shower.

When to Use It

  • Turn the unit ON approximately 30 minutes before use.
  • Turn it OFF after use to save power — the system operates at 1000W, and leaving it on will cause it to cycle repeatedly as the water cools and reheats.
  • Avoid running it overnight unless necessary.
