Proper maintenance ensures your Harvok® caravan stays in top condition for years to come. Follow these key tips to protect your caravan both inside and out.
Internal Care & Maintenance
- Allow airflow through the caravan regularly to prevent mould and stale air build-up, especially during long-term storage.
- Use dehumidifying crystals or a portable dehumidifier in the ensuite and kitchen to prevent condensation, particularly in colder months.
- Never leave wet or damp materials (e.g. towels, clothes) inside for long periods.
- Use a soft, damp cloth to clean small marks and dirt on surfaces.
- Avoid harsh chemical cleaners on leather or vinyl. Use a leather-safe cleaner when necessary.
- Only pour water-based liquids into drains. Never pour oils, fats, or food scraps, which can block pipes and solidify.
External Care & Maintenance
- Keep the caravan’s exterior clean. Mud and dirt buildup can trap moisture and cause rust or corrosion.
- If the paint is chipped during travel (e.g. gravel roads), use touch-up paint to prevent rust.
- Regularly inspect silicone sealant and rubber seals around doors, windows, hatches, and joints to avoid water leaks.
- Wash the exterior using soft soap and water with a sponge or soft brush. Rinse thoroughly.
- If using a pressure washer, avoid aiming directly at vents or seals, and never focus high-pressure spray on a single point for long.
- Store the caravan in a dry, shaded area if possible. If using a caravan cover, always remove it after rain to allow the exterior to dry completely.
