Your caravan comes equipped with an Awnlux W5700 electric awning, designed for easy operation at the push of a button. This guide explains how to use, maintain, and secure your awning properly to avoid damage during travel.
Operating Your Electric Awning
- Extend the Awning
Use the wall-mounted switch or remote control (if fitted) to extend the awning fully. Stop when the fabric is taut and the arms are at a suitable angle. - Adjust Pitch if Needed
Once extended, you can manually adjust the tilt of the arms on some models. This is useful for rain runoff or sun positioning.
Adjusting Tension
To ensure the awning remains firm and sag-free:
- Use the pitch adjustment knobs (if available) on each arm to increase tension.
- A properly tensioned awning reduces wind flapping and prevents water pooling.
- Do not over-tighten. You should feel slight resistance when the awning is fully extended.
Securing the Awning for Travel
Before hitting the road, always:
- Retract the Awning Fully
Press the RETRACT button and let the awning roll in completely. Stop only when the awning is snug against the caravan. - Lock and Strap the Arms
Each support arm must be securely latched or strapped into place.
This prevents movement during travel, which could damage the awning or your caravan. - Double Check for Safety
Walk around the van and ensure:- The awning is fully retracted
- The arms are latched tightly
- No part of the fabric is exposed
Important Safety Tips
- Never travel with the awning partially extended.
- Always keep the awning clean and dry before retraction to avoid mildew.
- Strong wind or storms? Retract the awning immediately to avoid structural damage.
- Do not hang heavy items from the awning arms.
