This checklist helps ensure your Harvok® caravan is safe, road-ready, and properly set up for your journey. Please follow each section carefully before departure.
Electrical & Safety Systems
12-PIN & Anderson Plug Connection
Ensure both the 12-PIN plug and the 120A Anderson plug are properly connected between the towing vehicle and the caravan. These supply power for driving lights and the electric braking system.
Indicator / Brake / Tail Lights
Test all exterior lights while connected to the towing vehicle:
✔ Indicators
✔ Brake lights
✔ Tail lights
Emergency Breakaway System
All Harvok® caravans come with an electric break-away safety brake system:
- Turn on the caravan’s power system.
- Locate the breakaway unit (in the tunnel boot).
- Press the test button to verify power and function.
- NSW customers: A battery monitor (SOC) is required and viewable from the tow vehicle cabin.
Battery & Appliance Prep
Battery SOC
Confirm your battery’s State of Charge is suitable for your travel needs—especially important for off-grid camping.
Refrigerator
Pre-cool the fridge while connected to mains power before loading food.
Wheels & Tyres
- Tyre Pressure
- Front: 50 PSI
- Rear: 55 PSI
- Also check spare tyre. Look for cracks or punctures.
- Wheel Nuts
- Torque all nuts to 140 NM.
- Handbrake
- Check engagement and release. Inspect the handbrake cable (green cable) for wear or corrosion.
Water Systems
- Fill clean water tanks based on your trip duration.
- Drain grey water using taps under the van.
- Travel with full or empty tanks to avoid sloshing movement while driving.
External & Internal Fittings
- Awning: Retract fully and secure with travel straps.
- Hatches, windows, cupboard doors: Ensure everything is locked or latched securely.
