What Is a Tempering Valve?
A tempering valve is a safety device that mixes hot water from the water heater with cold water to ensure a safe and comfortable temperature is delivered to your taps and shower. This prevents scalding and helps regulate consistent water temperature during use.
Where to Find It in Your Caravan
In your Harvok® caravan, the tempering valve is pre-installed under the hot water service, mounted on the chassis. You may need to access it for inspection or adjustment when dealing with hot water temperature issues.
Common Questions
Why is my hot water not hot enough?
The tempering valve may be set to a lower temperature. If your water feels too cold, it might be mixing in too much cold water. Please refer to the John Guest manual or contact support for assistance.
Can I adjust the tempering valve myself?
Tempering valves can often be adjusted, but we recommend this be done by a licensed plumber or approved repairer to avoid voiding warranty or creating safety risks.
Is maintenance required?
Tempering valves may require occasional flushing or replacement after years of use, especially in hard water areas. If you experience inconsistent water temperature, this may be the cause.
